SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Sept. 18, 2015 — In connection with the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), eRounds today announced the creation of mCase Exchange, a private eRounds community available only to CNS members. mCase Exchange will be officially introduced to CNS members at the upcoming CNS Annual Meeting next week in New Orleans, which is centered on the theme “Mentorship: Service, Education, Progress.”
mCase Exchange is an online, mobile social image-sharing platform that allows neurosurgeons to share and discuss cases with a community of peers in a practice-based learning environment. It offers a much more secure and immediate method for achieving collaboration than text messaging or emailing images, which could contain personal health information (PHI). As a fully moderated and PHI-free community, eRounds provides tools that allow users to quickly obfuscate any personally identifiable content. CNS members will receive additional information regarding downloading the eRounds application and claiming their verified accounts at the meeting.
“The CNS distinguishes itself with a rich history of mentorship,” says Regina Shupak, chief executive officer of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. “The new mCase Exchange eRounds community is reflective of that culture, allowing our members to engage with mentors around the world for the betterment of patient care. The CNS Annual Meeting is the perfect place to launch this platform.”
“mCase Exchange is like friends and colleagues around the old light box looking at films for a tough case, but now your friends and colleagues can be anywhere, radically expanding the power of expertise,” says Nathan R. Selden, MD, PhD, the president of CNS. “I love the user experience. I think the cases are fantastic and the discussions meaningful.”
“CNS continues to prove itself an innovator among leading medical associations,” says Don Lawrence, the CEO and founder of eRounds. “Their commitment to mCase Exchange as the platform for all their members to organize and share more than 140,000 collective years of neurosurgical knowledge is very forward-thinking on their part.”
eRounds, an innovative social enterprise platform, empowers physicians, clinical staff and healthcare enterprises to share and discuss medical photos with trusted peers. In addition to helping physicians capture, upload and collaborate on patient cases, eRounds is transforming how healthcare enterprises, including as medical device companies, train and educate clinicians and employees with secure, private and branded communities.
More details about mCase Exchange will be announced at the CNS Annual Meeting, Sunday, September 27, at 5:40 pm. At the same time, unique identification and log-in instructions for mCase Exchange will be sent to all CNS Members. CNS Members are asked to keep a close eye on their email for instructions.
