Schaumburg, IL, June 6, 2018 – Continuing in its mission to immerse residents in the strategies and mechanics of scholarly publishing, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and NEUROSURGERY® Publications is excited to announce the selection of Saniya Godil, MD, as the inaugural 2018 NEUROSURGERY® Publications Resident Fellow.

Dr. Godil was selected as the Publications Resident Fellow by Editor-in-Chief Nelson M. Oyesiku, MD, PhD; CNS Resident Committee Chair, Martina Stippler, MD; and CNS Development Committee Chair, Elad I. Levy, MD. The fellow will participate in the editorial process, creative projects, and new initiatives, and will act as an ex officioliaison between the publications office and neurosurgery residents and fellows.

Dr. Godil is currently a PGY4 neurosurgery resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is also completing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) degree. She graduated from medical school at Aga Khan University in Pakistan and completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Spine Outcomes Lab at Vanderbilt University where her work focused on prospective spine registries, patient reported outcomes, and cost effectiveness and cost utility of various spine surgeries.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be chosen as the NEUROSURGERY® Publications fellow. It will not only provide me with the opportunity to work with the experts on the editorial board of Neurosurgery and Operative Neurosurgery, but I can bring a neurosurgery resident’s perspective to the table," said Dr. Godil.

“The Editorial Office is very excited to welcome Dr. Godil as the 2018-2019 NEUROSURGERY® Publications Resident Fellow. We look forward to working with her throughout the year on several exciting projects and initiatives,” said Dr. Oyesiku.

Dr. Godil’s current research efforts are focused on brain tumor population and skull base procedures. She plans to pursue a career in academic skull base neurosurgery and serve as a leader in the development of national programs related to practice-based learning, and health services and outcomes research.
